For advisers and advocates Registered charity 265669
Helping someone approach the Fund
Welfare teams, advisers, family members and other referrers can help a potential beneficiary make a clear first contact.

Consent comes first
Make sure the person understands the enquiry and has agreed to the information being shared. Explain your role and whether the Fund should respond to you or directly to the potential beneficiary.
Keep the story factual
State the employment connection, relationship, present difficulty and practical request. Avoid unnecessary medical or financial detail in ordinary email.
- Who may be eligible
- How they connect to the former businesses
- What has changed
- What response is being sought
The Fund makes the decision
A referrer cannot confirm eligibility or promise assistance. Trustees retain discretion and may need to speak directly with the potential beneficiary.
Good advocacy creates clarity without taking control away from the person seeking help.
