The charity’s story is rooted in UK cement and associated quarrying operations, and in the lives built around that work.
A network of working lives
The governing document refers to employment by the Rugby Group Ltd, Rugby Portland Cement Company Ltd and present or former subsidiaries. That history crosses companies, sites and generations.
More than industry
Plants and quarries shaped local economies, friendships, families and communities. The Fund recognises that the connection did not end when an individual shift—or an entire site—closed.
History without nostalgia
The website uses heritage to explain eligibility and purpose. It does not imply that every former site or company is currently connected to a funding programme; enquiries are always checked against the governing objects.
The work was physical. The legacy is human.
